Piceasoft introduces a self-service kiosk to improve in-store service efficiency & experience

With the increasing demand for convenient and efficient in-store service experiences, self-service kiosks are becoming more popular in the retail industry as they offer a range of benefits to both consumers and retail businesses.

Piceasoft is transforming the in-store experience for mobile device trade-in, support, and repair by introducing the Picea® Online self-service kiosk for retail. The standalone kiosk, powered by the PiceaOnline business platform, has been designed to improve efficiency and overall service experience for consumers looking to trade in, get support, repair, or buy insurance for their mobile devices.

“We always pay close attention to customer needs and want to understand how to help them best to meet their goals. The self-service kiosk and its innovative design directly result from such discussions. It is simple to take into use and allows consumers to independently handle their mobile device services without assistance from retail store personnel. It also demonstrates the scalability and versatility of our new AI-based PiceaOnline platform”, says Kari Ketola, Piceasoft COO.

The kiosk, measuring 34 x 32 x 27 cm and weighing around 1 kg, includes a standard tablet running a PiceaOnline software platform that provides retailers 24/7 access to manage and define self-services through the configuration tool.

Making trade-in easy for consumers

In the case of mobile device trade-in, the self-service kiosk makes it easy and convenient for consumers to get a guaranteed value for the old device. Here’s how the PiceaOnline self-service kiosk works for trade-in:

  1. Consumer scans the QR code on the kiosk’s user interface.
  2. The make and model of the mobile device are automatically identified.
  3. The consumer places the device on the kiosk’s holder for AI-based device grading to automatically detect any cracks and scratches.
  4. Pre-defined device condition tests are performed for a comprehensive assessment.
  5. Once the assessment is complete, the consumer is shown an accurate and guaranteed trade-in offer.
  6. When the consumer accepts the offer, the required administrative details can be filled in.
  7. The transaction can be completed with the help of the retail staff.

Improving in-store service performance

PiceaOnline self-service kiosk is more than just a convenient solution for consumers – it is a powerful tool that helps retailers to grow their business. It can help to boost service transactions and increase revenues per visit while reducing the workload of store personnel. With the ability to track and monitor real-time analytics, businesses can improve their services and better understand their customers’ needs.

Retailers can run in-store campaigns and update them at any time. The flexibility of the PiceaOnline platform also makes it easy to adapt to the changing needs of consumers and extend offerings to multiple self-services, such as insurance sales, self-support, and repair & component replacement offers.

The PiceaOnline business platform is available now. The self-service kiosk hardware is expected to be available for deliveries during Q2 of 2023.
